Notes

I shot this frame as part of a personal series on stillness. It seemed like a good test case: an image with a strong centre and a lot happening around the edges, which is usually where campaign type goes to die.

The green in the wordmark came out of the dress. Nothing new was introduced. When the type sits down in the water it stops being a layer on top of the photograph and starts belonging to it.

The interesting problem was the crop. Most images fall apart between a vertical poster and a 4:5 social frame. Here the composition holds because the reflection gives the lower half something to do, so the type can move without the image losing its balance.
